She graduated from the Ontario College of Art where she studied under J.W. Beatty, himself a forerunner of the Group of Seven, and a well-known artist. She graduated from the Ontario College of Art where she studied under J.W. Beatty, himself a forerunner of the Group of Seven, and a well-known artist. She studied for 3 years doing figure work (portraits) but decided later that she preferred landscape painting. After graduation she accepted a position teaching at the OCA summer school in Port Hope in the Molson Grist Mill where she worked for 20 years.
