    Alonzo Myron Kimball (1874-1923)

    Alonzo Myron Kimball was active/lived in Wisconsin, Paris and New York. He is known for book and magazine illustration, and camouflage.

    Alonzo Myron Kimball was born on August 14, 1874, in Green Bay WI, where his grandfather, Alonzo Kimball (1808-1900), was the proprietor of a general store and served as Green Bay’s mayor from 1871-1873. His father was Alonzo Weston Kimball.

    Kimball studied art at the Art Students League in New York. He also studied in Europe, and exhibited at the Paris Salon in 1899. One of his major influences was James McNeil Whistler, with whom he is said to have studied for six years. At the turn of the century, Kimball returned to the US and settled in New York.
