    "Andreas Feininger, 92, Dies; Portrayed New York in Photos"

    Andreas Feininger, a pioneering photographer known both for his pictures for Life magazine and for his more personal images, died on Thursday at New York University Medical Center in Manhattan. He was 92 and lived in Manhattan.

    During his 60-year career Mr. Feininger photographed a wide range of subjects, from individual portraits to pictures of skyscrapers and seashells. But whatever his subject, he described it with a clarity and precision that were the characteristics of his style.
