It was during his service that he travelled to Derry in Ireland, a place he would later settle with his wife. Twells’ career in art really took off in the 1960s when he opened a studio at Shipquay Street. From there he exhibited regularly throughout Ireland and the UK. Arthur H. Twells died in 1996.
