    Arthur Shilling (1941 - 1986)

    Arthur Shilling was a painter, illustrator and author who was born, and died (as a result of complications from rheumatic fever), on the Rama Reserve near Orilla, Ontario, and except for a brief period in the late 1960's and early 1970's, lived there most of his life. His medium was primarily oil on masonite or canvas, however he has also worked in pastel, watercolor and pencil. His subjects are portraits and landscapes. His style was expressionist characterized by distinctive bold strokes of color.
