Arthur Shilling was a painter, illustrator and author who was born, and died (as a result of complications from rheumatic fever), on the Rama Reserve near Orilla, Ontario, and except for a brief period in the late 1960's and early 1970's, lived there most of his life. His style was expressionist characterized by distinctive bold strokes of color. He studied at the New School of Art and the Ontario College of Art in Toronto; but is mostly self-taught.
