    The following has been submitted in May of 2006 by Eric Sublett, son of the artist.


    Carl Sublett worked as a machinist, turning propeller shafts at United Aircraft in Hartford, Connecticut until WWII broke out, and then he went to Italy with the U.S. Army from 1943 until the war ended. After the war he stayed there to take art history at the American Academy in Florence. He married Helen Crawford Davis who also worked at the airplane factory August 22, 1942.

    After the war he began working in industrial design and then as staff artist at the Bristol Virginia, Tennessee Herald-Courier and later the Bristol Virginia-Tennessean.
