    Cesar de Herrer was born in Luarca (Luanco)/Asturias, Spain in 1868. He was the son of the painter Joaquín María Herrer Rodríguez. Cesar began his art education under his father, followed by stays in Paris and Rome. In the mid-1890's, Cesar studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, Germany under Johann Caspar Herterich. Around the turn of the century, Cesar became a citizen of Hungary and settled into life there. Cesar de Herrer mainly painted portraits, landscapes, townscapes and genre paintings. An important group of his works are Venetian townscapes. Cesar de Herrer died in 1919, in Budapest, Hungary.
