Cesar de Herrer was born in Luarca (Luanco)/Asturias, Spain in 1868. He was the son of the painter Joaquín María Herrer Rodríguez. Cesar began his art education under his father, followed by stays in Paris and Rome. In the mid-1890's, Cesar studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich, Germany under Johann Caspar Herterich.
