    LAURENTI, Cesare. - He was born in Mesola, in the Ferrara area, on November 6, 1854. His parents are Agostino and Maria Arveda. Opposed in his own artistic inclinations by the family, at eighteen he settled in Padua to study drawing with the sculptor Luigi Ceccon, thanks also to the interest of Count Leopoldo Ferri, his patron (whose portrait was still in the study of L. in 1937: Gallo , The hermitage). It was he who presented Laurenti to the architect and critic Pietro Selvatico.

    In 1875, Laurenti married Annina Levi, from whom he had his son Fosco, their eldest son and future father of Anna, to whom we owe the collection of unpublished writings by the artist (C. Laurenti, Scritti d'arte [1890-1936] , Ferrara 1990). He c...
