Opposed in his own artistic inclinations by the family, at eighteen he settled in Padua to study drawing with the sculptor Luigi Ceccon, thanks also to the interest of Count Leopoldo Ferri, his patron (whose portrait was still in the study of L. in 1937: Gallo , The hermitage).
