About Charles Nett

  • Biography

    Charles Nett was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, on March 17, 1917. His early love of the West developed from tales of his grandparents, who had homesteaded in South Dakota. While pursuing this interest through early drawings of Indians and horses, he discovered his natural talent as an artist.

    Mr. Nett first formally studied art at the John Herron Art School, Indianapolis; and was later awarded a scholarship to the Art Institute of Chicago. His lifelong interest in the West and its history led him to study many of the great Western artists, while building his own niche in Western art. Mr. Nett has worked in the mediums of oil and watercolor, as well as pen and pencil sketches.
