    A versatile painter, designer, illustrator, muralist and printmaker, Simard paints still lives, gardens, flowers and foliage in richly contrasting colors, capturing the essence of seasonal colors and changes.
    Born on July 9, 1943 in Quebec, Canada, Claude Alphonse Simard graduated from the Ontario College of Art in Toronto in 1966. He then worked as a graphic designer and illustrator at La Maison Simons from 1966 to 1973. He ran his own communications firm from 1973 to 1984, and in 1984 he became a Professor in Graphic Communications at the University Laval.
