    Dorothy Stevens (aka:Dorothy Austin Stevens) was a painter, illustrator and printmaker who was born in Toronto and lived there all her life. Her mediums were oil, pastel, ink and etching. Her subjects were landscapes, portraits, children and military during World War I (which included ship building, munitions plants and other home front activities). Her styles were realism and naturalism. She studied at the Slade School of Art, London (1904) under Henry Tonks, Philip Wilson Steer and Sir Walter Westley Russell; and at the Académie Colarossi, Paris; and the Académie de la Grande Chaumière, Paris under Lucien Simon (finishing in 1911).
