Elizabeth Rupp Withington was a Rockport, Massachusetts illustrator and artist in watercolors, gouache and oils. She was born on 6 September 1883 in Roxbury, Massachusetts to John Rupp and Emily Wiswell Wilder Withington. Her father was a long time Jamaica Plains, Boston resident who worked for several decades as a Boston customs house clerk. The Withington family came to Massachusetts in the 1630s. Elizabeth was attending art school while residing at her parent's home at 22 Burroughs Avenue, Jamaica Plain, Boston, MA during the 1900 census. By 1910 she was employed as an artist and illustrator and was thus occupied in the 1920 and 1930 censuses.
