He traveled extensively throughout Europe, coming into contact with the avant-garde and admiring the portraits of Egyptian sarcophagi from the Roman period. He settled in Madrid in 1918 and became a regular at the Nuevo Levante and Maisón Doré cafes, where he mingled with intellectuals and artists. He held his first major exhibition...
