    Gerhard Wendland was born in 1910 in Hanover, Germany and died in 1987 in Nurnberg, Germany. The abstract painter and graphic was formed on the Academy in Hannover. In 1959, he participated in the documenta II in Kassel. Since 1960, he lectured at the Academy of Fine Artist Al Rio in Nuremberg and was honored by the city in 1981 with a major retrospective. His work is strongly influenced by Paul Klee and Wassily Kandinsky.
