Around the turn of the century, he traveled to Hamburg, Leipzig and Berlin and created depictions of animals at the zoo. 1910 was followed by a stay in the Tatras. Today, works of Vastagh are in the Hungarian National Gallery and the Museum of Hungarian Agriculture in Budapest, amongst others.
