In 1888, he returned to Budapest. In 1889, he made a study trip to France. A year later, he sojourned in Algeria and Tunisia, devoting himself to the depiction of lions for the first time. In 1888, he returned to Budapest. In 1889, he made a study trip to France. A year later, he sojourned in Algeria and Tunisia, devoting himself to the depiction of lions for the first time. Around the turn of the century, he traveled to Hamburg, Leipzig and Berlin and created depictions of animals at the zoo. 1910 was followed by a stay in the Tatras. Today, works of Vastagh are in the Hungarian National Gallery and the Museum of Hungarian Agriculture in Budapest, amongst others.
