Biography
Gustaf Wolmar (born Andersson, 1880–1971) was a Swedish painter who was mainly active in Denmark. He was born in Kristinehamn but lived most of his life in Copenhagen, where he also died.
Wolmar grew up in simple circumstances and was adopted as a child. Already in his teens he began working in a painting workshop while studying at a technical school. After a short time in commercial studies he decided to become an artist and traveled to Munich for further education.
He continued his studies in Copenhagen at the Kunstnernes Frie Studieskoler, where he became a student of the influential artist Kristian Zahrtmann. There he developed close contacts with other artists such as Johan Rohde, Edvard Weie and Karl Isaks...But wait, there's more...
