He continued his studies in Copenhagen at the Kunstnernes Frie Studieskoler, where he became a student of the influential artist Kristian Zahrtmann. Wolmar grew up in simple circumstances and was adopted as a child. Already in his teens he began working in a painting workshop while studying at a technical school. After a short time in commercial studies he decided to become an artist and traveled to Munich for further education. He continued his studies in Copenhagen at the Kunstnernes Frie Studieskoler, where he became a student of the influential artist Kristian Zahrtmann.
