Henri Mège was born in 1904 in Romans-sur-Isère, in the region of the Alps. He was almost entirely self-educated and learned how to paint by observing his mother's painting sessions and visiting museums with her. Henri Mège initiated his career in the French cavalry as an officer, which took him to Indochina in 1931. There, he became close friends with the renowned Vietnamese painter Mai Trung Thu, and they inspired each other. Henri Mège was also a drawing teacher at the French High School of Saigon from 1950-1956, and he was a frequent contributor and friend of the artistic elite in the country....
