    The work from the late period of the career of the important Florentine late Mannerist, Jacopo Chimenti, known as Jacopo da Empoli, is emblematic of the stylistic tendencies of the 2nd quarter of the 17th century in the city of the Medici.

    Of particular importance is the interplay between Empoli's elongated, elegant figures, typical of his mature work, and his completely new, naturalistic conception of landscape.
