    James Le Jeune was born in Canada in 1910 to a French father and Irish mother. He studied architecture at the Central London Polytechnic and also attended art classes at Heatherly's College.

    During World War II, he spent time in the army and was posted to Italy and Tunisia where he worked with Bailey Bridges and also did a lot of sketching and water colours.

    In 1950 he moved to Ireland with his family and lived in Delgany County, Wicklow. He worked as an architect for a couple of years then gave it up deciding to paint full time.
