Jesús Helguera is known as one of the most representative painters of calendrical art in Mexico, whose work was born of romanticism, fantasy, eroticism and national folklore.

At the age of 7 he emigrated with his family to Spain, where he received his initial artistic training at the School of Arts and Crafts in Madrid and later at the San Fernando Academy. In this stage he learned the taste for history painting by studying the works of the Prado Museum, which opened the way for illustration.
