    Karel Valter (February 17, 1909, Ceské Budejovice - November 17, 2006, Tábor) was a Czech painter, graphic artist, pedagogue, member of the SCVU. Karel Valter was born into an innkeeper's family in the Linz suburb of Ceské Budejovice. He had a musical talent and at a young age he sometimes played the organ in the church of St. Jan Nepomucký. In the years 1924–1928 he studied drawing and mathematics at the local Teachers' Institute and in the years 1933-1935 another 4 semesters at the University of Education in Prague. He began his pedagogical career in 1928 as a teacher of mathematics, drawing and spelling at a school in Ceské Velenice.
