    Ken Symonds painted landscapes and nudes. Born at Swindon in 1927, Symonds studied art in London on a scholarship during the early 1950s. He traveled widely, working as a free-lance illustrator and as a designer of book jackets in London and taking on drawing commissions during his time in Africa before moving to Penzance, his father`s birthplace, in 1960.

    Symonds taught at the Penzance School of Art and the St Ives School of Painting, as well as taking on private students. He was a member of the Newlyn, St Ives and Penwith Art Societies and was invited to join the Pastel Society in London in 1990.
