He traveled widely, working as a free-lance illustrator and as a designer of book jackets in London and taking on drawing commissions during his time in Africa before moving to Penzance, his father`s birthplace, in 1960. Symonds taught at the Penzance School of Art and the St Ives School of Painting, as well as taking on private students. He was a member of the Newlyn, St Ives and Penwith Art Societies and was invited to join the Pastel Society in London in 1990. One of Symonds` paintings was selected to be presented to Lady Thatcher in 1987 to join the Number 10 Downing Street art collection.... Read full biography
