    Born in Denmark in 1923, the painter K.R.H. Sonderborg (Kurt Rudolf Hoffmann) is considered an important artist of the German Informel. Despite the art historical association with this movement, the artist preserved his own style. From 1965 to 1990, Sonderborg was professor of painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Stuttgart.

    From 1969 to 1970, he was a visiting professor at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, and, in 1986, a visiting professor at the Art Institute in Chicago. Sonderborg participated in the documenta in Kassel in 1959 and 1964.

    He died in 2008 in Hamburg, Germany....
