About Lucien Abrams

    Lucien Abrams was a landscape, portrait, and still life painter as well as an architect. He was also a member of the Old Lyme Colony*, in Old Lyme, Connecticut where he arrived in 1915 when he was age forty-five and already an established landscape painter.

    Born in Lawrence, Kansas, Abrams was from a wealthy family and traveled abroad extensively as a young man. In 1873, he moved to Texas with his family, and he attended schools in Dallas. He graduated in 1892 from Princeton University with a degree in art and architecture and then went to New York where he attended the Art Students League*. In 1894, he went to Europe where he studied at the Academy Julian* with Jean-Paul Laurens and Benjamin Constant and began his life-long passion ...
