Under the influence of the Paris School and Amedeo Modigliani in particular, Janecek created primarily portrayals of women and girls in his earlier works. During this time he also developed an interest in and knowledge of Cubism. In the following years, he created mainly drawings and illustrations. During this time he also developed an interest in and knowledge of Cubism. In the following years, he created mainly drawings and illustrations. Since the 1950s, color became the main focus of his work, inspired by the works of Paul Klee and Georges Seurat. In the 1960s and 70s Janecek started to mainly work with natural forms.
