Landscape and portrait painter, Paul Weber studied in Frankfort, Germany and then emigrated to the United States, in 1848, at the age of 25. He settled in Philadelphia where he was a frequent exhibitor at the Pennsylvania Academy from 1849. He returned to Europe traveling around Scotland and Germany in 1857. Then in 1860 he returned to Darmstadt and was appointed court painter.
Later he returned to the United States and was an instructor in Philadelphia where one of his students was Edward Moran. Weber died in Philadelphia in 1916.
