Sverre Bjertnes was born in 1976 and is one of our foremost young painters. Through a long and thorough process of developing a personal expression he has been a renewer of the Norwegian contemporary painting. Studying under the famous traditionalist and kitsch painter Odd Nerdrum, Sverre's early works were committed to a formal aesthetic expression.

Several of his well known early works were portraits of youth. During his time at The National Academy of Fine Arts, Sverre developed a moreover photo-realistic approach to painting. His recent production stems both from classical figurative painting and conceptual art.
