    Theodor Rosenhauer (born May 8, 1901 in Dresden, † June 14, 1996 in Berlin) was a German painter of landscape and portrait painting.

    Theodor Rosenhauer first attended the Realschule in Radebeul and the Dresden School of Applied Arts before studying with Ferdinand Dorsch at the Dresden Art Academy from 1919 to 1924. In 1924 he began to paint as a freelancer, he belonged to the circle of friends around Karl Kröner and Paul Wilhelm. In 1925 a study trip to Romania followed, which influenced his later work.

    In 1934 Rosenhauer's request to be appointed to the Dresden Art Academy was rejected. He had been unanimously selected for appointment by the Dresden university professors, but the Nazi regime did not allow this to happen. In 1...
