    Turi Simeti was born in Alcamo in Sicily in 1929. In the early 1960s he moved to Rome to become a self-trained painter. Trips to London, Paris and Basel greatly influenced his artistic development.

    In 1965 he joined the group ‘Zero Avantgarde’ that was first introduced to the public at Lucio Fontana’s studio in Milan. In the same year Simeti established himself in Milan, but spent some time in New York between 1966 and 1969, where he was invited as an Artist in Residence by the Fairleigh Dickinson University.

    His works can be found in major collections, including the Museo d’Arte Moderna di Bolzano in Italy, the Museu de Arte Moderna do Rio de Janeiro in Brazil and the Wilhelm-Hack-Museum in Ludwigsha...
