Turi Simeti was born in Alcamo in Sicily in 1929. In the early 1960s he moved to Rome to become a self-trained painter. Trips to London, Paris and Basel greatly influenced his artistic development. In 1965 he joined the group ‘Zero Avantgarde’ that was first introduced to the public at Lucio Fontana’s studio in Milan.
