About Walter Libuda

  • Biography

Walter Libuda was a former master student of Bernhard Heisig, and worked simultaneously on oil paintings, drawings and three-dimensional works, in which he gave free rein to his pictorial imagination. Libuda does not concretize the content of the work, he simply makes it seem and leaves it to the viewer to think himself into a, his, world.

The painter, draughtsman, sculptor and object artist Walter Libuda began his career as a theatre painter at the Landestheater Altenburg in 1968. This was followed by studies at the Academy of Graphic Arts (HBGK) in Leipzig from 1973 to 1979, where he worked as a lecturer from 1982 to 1985. Since 1998, he has also been a member of the Saxon Academy of Arts.
