The painter, draughtsman, sculptor and object artist Walter Libuda began his career as a theatre painter at the Landestheater Altenburg in 1968. This was followed by studies at the Academy of Graphic Arts (HBGK) in Leipzig from 1973 to 1979, where he worked as a lecturer from 1982 to 1985. Since 1998, he has also been a member of the Saxon Academy of Arts. Beginning in 2004, the artist lived in Schildow near Berlin, where he worked productively until the end.
