Antonio Prohias (b.1921 / d.1998). Antonio Prohias was born in Cienfuego, Cuba on January 17, 1921. Prohias, at an early age, became interested in drawing. During the 1950s, many of his drawing appeared in political magazines in Cuba, making fun of Castro. However, this made Prohias many enemies due to his political views and making his life difficult. During the 1950s, many of his drawing appeared in political magazines in Cuba, making fun of Castro. However, this made Prohias many enemies due to his political views and making his life difficult. Prohias fled the country on May 1, 1960 just before Castro seized control of the countie's presses to avoid being arrested. With very little money, Prohias arrive in the United States. He began searching for magazines to show his work. Prohias sent in a short cartoon in 1961 to MAD Magazine. MAD ran the cartoon in the January, 1961 issue, and "Spy vs Spy" was created.
