Anna Munthe-Norstedt was born in 1854. She lived in Paris from 1878-1881 and studied with, among others, the artist Hugo Salmson. In 1881 she returned to Stockholm. She settled with her husband, the artist Reinhold Norstedt, in a studio apartment at Tunnelgatan. For almost thirty years, their home became a meeting place for artists and intellectuals.
