She studied at Cooper Union* Institute of Design in New York, in Florence, Italy with Amalia Rocchi, and in Holland with Margaret Roosenboom. In 1882, she married Jean Paul Selinger, a well-known artist, and they toured Europe for three years, spending most of their time in Germany.
