He was a member of the Société des Artistes Français and was one of the founding members of the group Montmartre aux Artistes. Stylistically, Delpy's painting is still entirely in the tradition of the Barbizon school. Its open-air studies are characterized by their intimacy of conception and by its subtle colourism. In an original way the artist has put together the individual studies of a bank section of the river Oise to a wide, atmospherically evocative panorama.
