Together with artists such as Lars Tiller and Ramon Isern, he represented throughout much of the 1970s and 1980s a form of abstraction that was unusual in Norwegian painting. With a particular compositional interest in architecture that is often visible in Wold's paintings, it was perhaps as a colourist that he really made his mark. Wold combined the starting point in a constructivist tradition with an unusually open and playful relationship with colour.
