He attended private studio lessons in Tucson and enrolled at the University of Arizona where he majored in art and earned a Bachelor and Master's of Fine Arts. He was also on the rodeo team. A Mormon, he took two years for missionary service in Oklahoma and the Midwest. He then wrote and illustrated children's books and created paintings, and by the late 1970s became a...
