Born in 1907 in Chatham, New Jersey, Priscilla Garrett and her family relocated to her father’s family farm in Southeastern Pennsylvania shortly after her birth. When she was age seven, Prisicilla’s parents died from typhoid, and she and her sister were separated, with Priscilla being adopted by her father’s cousin in West Chester, Pennsylvania. Born in 1907 in Chatham, New Jersey, Priscilla Garrett and her family relocated to her father’s family farm in Southeastern Pennsylvania shortly after her birth. When she was age seven, Prisicilla’s parents died from typhoid, and she and her sister were separated, with Priscilla being adopted by her father’s cousin in West Chester, Pennsylvania. Garrett studied art at Drexel Institute for two years, and then went to the Philadelphia School of Design for Women (now Moore College of Art) where she studied illustration. She completed her art studies at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art in 1932. Garrett’s worked in the style of American Realism, in which everyday life was depicted and often featured people working in their communities.... Read full biography
