He made frequent exhibitions in Spain and France, and maintained a good relationship with Picasso. In 1936, on the eve of the Spanish Civil War, he participated in the Venice Biennale, and in 1981 performed on request of UNESCO granescultura "Olive Tree" which since then the award is given to the winner of Education for peace.
