Francine Simonin, born in 1936 in Lausanne, is a designer, painter and engraver of Swiss and Canadian nationality. She can be related to a "vehement expressionism", without being totally related to it. After a childhood spent drawing, Simonin took classes at the Ecole Cantonale des Beaux-Arts in Lausanne with Marcel Poncet between 1955 and 1958. In the early 1960s, she met Marguerite Duras. After a childhood spent drawing, Simonin took classes at the Ecole Cantonale des Beaux-Arts in Lausanne with Marcel Poncet between 1955 and 1958. In the early 1960s, she met Marguerite Duras.
