He then studied for many years in Dresden with Johan Chistian Dahl, interrupted by traveling through Norway, Bavaria, Tirol and Switzerland. Baade moved to Munich in 1845, and in 1849, he exhibited a depiction of a nightly Norwegian coast with outstanding success. Baade moved to Munich in 1845, and in 1849, he exhibited a depiction of a nightly Norwegian coast with outstanding success. The well known painter Wilhelm von Kaulbach and Carl Rottmann praised the composition, and prince Luitpold wanted to have a replica of it. Until his death, the depiction of coastal scenaries by night remained Baades preferred theme.... Read full biography
