He later studied under Ribera. For some time he was in the service of the painter Pietro da Cortona, whose style and methods he assimilated almost to the extent of mimicry. He later studied under Ribera. For some time he was in the service of the painter Pietro da Cortona, whose style and methods he assimilated almost to the extent of mimicry. He had, as a matter of fact, a particular talent for imitating almost any painter's technique, and for a time he earned his living making copies of the masters. In 1665 Giordano became a Master in the painters' guild. In 1692 he became court painter to Charles II of Spain and within the period of two years completed an immense fresco for the ceiling of the church and the staircase of the... Read full biography
