Daniel Ponce Montuy, better known as "Montuy", was one of the great exponents of Mexican Muralism in the second half of the 20th century. Also he was a subversive poet, easel painter, and social and cultural activist (he participated in the Mexican protests of October 2, 1968). Montuy initially stood out in easel painting since the end of the sixties, and in 1972 he began to make murals, commissioning his first two murals in his homeland: Tabasco. Daniel Ponce Montuy, better known as "Montuy", was one of the great exponents of Mexican Muralism in the second half of the 20th century. Also he was a subversive poet, easel painter, and social and cultural activist (he participated in the Mexican protests of October 2, 1968). Montuy initially stood out in easel painting since the end of the sixties, and in 1972 he began to make murals, commissioning his first two murals in his homeland: Tabasco.
